When water flows over smooth surfaces like concrete it increases in velocity. So when it travels through box culverts or pipes, it can get moving at a good rate. When the water gets to the end of the concrete and transitions to a natural ground it slows down and becomes turbulent. That turbulence creates erosion issues. To prevent and/or mitigate that problem the solution is similar to Channel Lining; we put hard armaments on the bottom and if needed, also the side slopes.
We construct the follow types of outfall protection depending on the type of project and protection that is needed:
– Stone Riprap
– Grouted Stone Riprap
– Concrete Riprap
